LED Cubes

I’ve made two LED Cubes. The first was a small 4x4x4 I made for my father as a Christmas gift while I was in College, it is controlled by a PIC 18F4685 and cycled through a variety of patterns, such as” Rain, Rising Walls, and Beacon.

The second cube I made a few years later was an 8x8x8 cube as a learning aid for students learning how to program on the ATSAM32 development kit. As it was much larger than the first it required multiplexers to control the 512 LEDs on it. It included an audio circuit intended to take an audio jack which could be used to generate some interesting patterns.
